Intermodal Transport Cluster (KIP) has been founded in 2005 as a Croatian Shortsea Promotion Centre with the aim to promote and develop short line shipping in the Republic of Croatia. Intermodal Transport Cluster as a non-profit organisation was founded after signing a Cooperation Agreement among Croatian Shortsea Promotion Centre and Pro-Rail Alliance, Association of Ship Brokers and Agents of Croatia, Inland Navigation Development Centre Ltd. and Association of Croatian Road Hauliers. Cluster is founded on the initiative of the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and its members are all maritime port authorities, operators, Croatian railways, bigger agents and transporters as well as other interested organizations. Cluster today has 3 basic activities: promotion of intermodality, R&D projects and informatisation of intermodal transport service.

KIP has an extensive experience in preparation and implementation of EU projects as well as in organization and performance of training and educational events (conferences, workshops, seminars, consultations) for the transport and logistic stakeholders which can be linked with the project activities. KIP cooperates closely with the Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Faculty of Transport Sciences on performance of education activities and has developed a strong relationship with a wide number of transport stakeholders. The previous projects which can be linked with the CAPTAIN are the following:

Contribution to the project
Intermodal Transport Cluster will participate in all technical work packages mainly to represent Croatian transport system. KIP will actively contribute to the analysis of existing practices of port authorities and to the identification of weak links and bottlenecks of present practice in clearance processing as a precondition of further developments. Moreover, KIP will carry out a feasibility study for the infrastructural development of the Port of Dubrovnik.
In addition, KIP will contribute to identification of best practice, exchange of experience, collection of requested data, dissemination actions and adaptation/fine tuning of Adriatic MoS, Adrimob, EA SEAWAY results and outputs. Finally, KIP will transfer project achievements to competent authorities in Croatia and region.
Intermodal Transport Cluster supports development of a complete intermodal transport system through common activities providing a link between economic sector and state bodies. KIP aims to increase participation of intermodal transport in Croatian transport system and provides information and help with EU project preparation to transport stakeholders.
KIP provide the project with a high level expertise thanks to the network of its members, such as Croatian port authorities, major port operators, agents, freight forwarders and Croatian railways.
